White Pine Ski & Summer Resort is one of Wyoming’s oldest ski areas, located in the beautiful Wind River Mountains just 10 miles outside of Pinedale. White Pine (originally named Surveyor Park Ski Area) opened to skiers on January 5, 1940. Stocks were sold to cover the purchase of a lift from France. This lift was the longest in Wyoming at the time, starting at 8,500 feet elevation and taking skiers an additional 1,000 feet to the top near Fortification Mountain.
Winter activities at White Pine include downhill skiing and snowboarding, tubing, as well as 35km of free looping Nordic ski trails. Two lifts service groomed downhill runs and the small terrain park offers jumps and slides. Another lift services a popular tubing hill.
